So Currently I’m On Rogers Internet With there: Extreme 10mbps = 95gb/$59.99 but with 4 computers & 3 game Consoles 95GB monthly Limit is to low. I figure my monthly Bandwidth Avg to be about 120gb per month. By going over our monthly limit it is costing us $25 extra per month making our bill $85 o_0. But Rogers as of March 1st,2010 will be making its Bandwidth Price more money once you go over your limit.They limited you to only pay $25 extra at the max.Now it will be going up to $50 max which means my internet price will cost $110 Per month.Because of this change with roger. It is time to find a New ISP or upgrade.To figure out what would be the best option for me I have Created this list which shows Internet Speed/ Monthly Limited and Price. I have Not showing the Prices for how much Each company charges for if you go over your bandwidth limit.The reason for me not showing this is because I figure which ever internet company I chose should have a high enough limit in the first place to suit my internet usage needs each month.
Based Of these ISP: My First option Would be just to upgrade to Rogers Extreme Plus 25mbps = 125gb/$69.99
Which would be just enough Bandwidth and the extra speed would be a nice bonus.So we called rogers to upgrade.They told us our Modem was not compatible and we would need to purchase a new one for like $100-$200 or something, making it not worth it.Well what if they let us upgrade and just only receive 10mbps since our modem cant handle the 25mbps.. well that wasn’t possible Either.
Only 2 options I see that fit my needs would be DSL from: Primus Dsl 5mbps = Unlimited/$34.95 & TekSavvy Premium 5Mbps = 200gb/29.99 or Unlimited 5Mbps = Unlimited/39.99 .Now it comes down to weather or not we need unlimited if we just get 200gb per month. HUM unlimited sounds nice but it is meant to be a little slower due to not being on a private line.
